This option was very convenient because the administrator account was hidden and I could access it any time without having to reboot in safe mode or make it available at the log on screen. I want to know if this option is also available on Windows 7 or is there is any similar way to do the same on Windows 7? Well, you asked for my answer, and here it is: Win7 is not my domain, and will not be until there is at least SP1 and broad-range or native coverage for hardware devices.
So far, so good. As to your troubles, I got the answer to the other issue through Google search. Why not try it for yourself? Tip: I read that the Administrator account was disabled in Vista by default. It could be the same thing with Win7. That's true I found your solution also by myself but I thought that it wasn't what I was looking for I'll give Google another shot. Actually that is not what I'm asking for. That would leave the admin account on the welcome screen.
I don't want that. You can either configure Vista or Win7 to use this, or the welcome screen, but not both. I normally run from a non-admin account, and also have an admin account.
I create another admin account that is hidden from the login screen to use if my normal admin account gets clobbered. I hide it with the registry entry:. Press Y to confirm the overwrite and close the setup window to reboot. Once you have finished with the administrator and can use another account, disable it again using one of the methods above.
Thank you so much for the help with this! This article combined with a youtube video I found with some different steps prior got me up and running! I followed instruction, but administrator still does not show up. I must give you a big thanks..

If an account is enabled it will show on the logon screen.
I want to keep my administrator account enabled all the time. But I don't want it to show on the logon screen. By using that key in the registry, I manage to hide it. The problem is I now have no way to log in using the administrator account if it is not shown.
How do I switch from simple logon to classic logon in Windows 7? I want to keep the simple logon screen for normal users. But I am ok to sacrifice it unwillingly if required. The documentation says " This setting forces the user to log on to the computer using the classic logon screen.
By default, a workgroup is set to use the simple logon screen. This setting only works when the computer is not on a domain. Edited by K. Kong Friday, September 11, AM typo. This finally got classic logon to come on.
So it appears that the Always use classic logon GPO is a bug? Anyway, now I cannot have a computer set up for novice users without attracting people to hack the administrator account. A step backward in Windows 7. Hi As far as someone hacking the admin account, this depends on how well you protect the system. There are many different tools available in Windows 7 that can be used to prevent intrusion.
