I have a btu Goldstar air conditioner. I own an square foot 5 room home and it cools the entire house like I have central air. I purchased the Goldstar Window Airconditioner and only after 3 years, it isn't providing cold air any more. Based on this, it's a very very poor product for my money. To have a repair or service person come to my home to see what's the matter, it would cost I might as well by a new one and believe me it won't be a Goldstar!
I purchased the Goldstar GWHD as an economical way to cool my upstairs bedroom in the hot summer. It is light and very easy to install, with no need to attach extra hardware to your home. This machine is completely no-frills, with a bare bones look and protruding, somewhat unattractive face.
There is no digital readout like on other window air conditioners; instead there is a dial for controlling how cool you want your room, a switch to select low or hi fan speed, and a power switch. One of the options on the cooling dial is to run the fan only, without the air conditioning option. There is no remote control. This unit, while simple, does get the job done every time. It very rapidly cools the room and lowers the humidity. This unit can take a small to medium sized room from humid and hot to exceedingly cool and comfortable in less than ten minutes.
With no thermostat on the machine, it will run however it is set until you manually change the setting or turn it off. It changed its name to LG Electronics in The company says its air conditioners can be used to cool a single room or the whole house. Some options come with multiple speeds and varying air direction.
All Goldstar room air conditioners come with a 1-year warranty on parts and labor with in-home servicing. Units installed prior to may carry an extended 5-year warranty on the compressor. See ratings and reviews for the best in furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers and more.

I am buying a AC soon and through the wall is the only place I want to install it. My plan is to make a platform to set it on.
It will be under a roof eve and I'm in southern Calif. There is a better selection of window ones, only a few made for through the wall and by the time you add a sleeve the cost is considerably more. It will be permanently there, not removed in the winter. It will be 12, or 15, BTU. It will work but you will pay later. If you install the window unit in the wall, How are you going to seal it?
If you seal it, yow are you going to remove it for maintenance? ANd the unit itself can generally be pulled out the front to be worked on or cleaned. Window units are not made to do this so you willl have to pull the entire thing out of the hole in the wall then disassemble it to work on it.
So long as you're buying one that's designed for wall installation, you'll be fine. Having lived with one, you'll want to make sure you cover it through the winter, inside and out I built a foam box from 1" insulation for the outside.
