For newer OSes, it calls the built-in sysprep in the OS. If you are deploying or XP, you have to copy the sysprep files for those OSes to the vCenter Server for this to work. So I think I'm going to just sysprep the machine, let it come back into the full desktop, with all the changes copied over to the admin profile. Then just convert to template. This is how I'd do it. Verify the installation location. Click Install to begin. When the installation wizard has completed, click Finish. Click OK to close the Plugin Manager window.
Access the Plugin Manager again to enable the newly installed Update Manager. Check the enable checkbox under the Installed tab. Note the new Update Manager button in the toolbar.
